If your laptop battery is running low and needs replacement, you’re in the right place. Replacing the battery isn’t too complicated, but it does require some care. Here’s a simple guide to help you through the process.

First, you can confidently replace the battery by following these instructions. You’ll need to be mindful of a few details, especially when handling the rubber strips on the bottom of your laptop.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools and Supplies

Before you start, make sure you have the following:

  • A new battery (part number: L08496-855)
  • A screwdriver (usually a Phillips head)
  • A plastic pry tool
  • A clean, soft cloth to work on

Step 2: Access the Battery Compartment

  1. Power Off Your Laptop: Shut down your laptop completely and unplug it from the wall.
  2. Flip It Over: Carefully place your laptop upside down on a flat surface.
  3. Remove the Rubber Strips: Take your plastic pry tool and gently lift the rubber strips at the bottom. Be cautious as they can stretch; if you do stretch them, no worries—they can still be reused later.

Step 3: Unscrew the Battery Panel

  1. Locate the Screws: Once the rubber strips are removed, you’ll see the screws that secure the battery compartment.
  2. Unscrew Carefully: Remove each screw and place them in a safe spot so they don’t get lost.

Step 4: Replace the Battery

  1. Remove the Old Battery: After unscrewing, gently lift out the old battery.
  2. Insert the New Battery: Take your new battery (L08496-855) and place it into the compartment, ensuring it fits snugly.

Step 5: Reassemble the Laptop

  1. Screw the Battery Panel Back On: Replace the screws you removed earlier and make sure they’re secured.
  2. Reattach the Rubber Strips: Press the rubber strips back into place. Ensure they’re positioned correctly to avoid any loose ends.

Step 6: Power Up and Test

  1. Flip the Laptop Back Over: Set your laptop back down on the table.
  2. Plug It In and Turn It On: Connect your charger and power up your laptop. Check if the battery is recognized and charging properly.
