Microsoft Word retains valuable information about document authorship and records any modifications made, often linked to specific users. Before sharing a document with an external party, it’s crucial to remove this sensitive information.
You can easily locate and eliminate hidden data using Word’s Document Inspector tool. Start by opening the document, then go to “File” > “Info.” Click on “Check for Issues” and select “Inspect Document.” A window will appear listing various categories, highlighting any that contain sensitive information with exclamation marks. To remove this data, choose “Remove All.” Afterward, perform another inspection to ensure there are no lingering exclamation marks—if they’re gone, you’re all set!
