If Siri turns on by itself while you’re in the middle of talking to someone, it can feel like your private conversation has been recorded without your consent. This can be really unsettling, especially if you weren’t expecting Siri to activate or if you didn’t want it to listen. Many people worry that their conversations could be captured or listened to without them knowing.

If you find this happening often, it’s a good idea to take some steps to prevent Siri from turning on unintentionally. First, check your settings to disable the “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’” feature. You can do this by opening your phone’s Settings, then going to Siri & Search, and turning off the toggle next to “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’.” This will prevent your phone from activating Siri just by hearing the wake command.

Next, consider turning off “Press Side Button for Siri” if you don’t want Siri to activate when you press a button. You can do this in the same settings menu. This way, Siri will only activate when you choose to open it manually.

Another tip is to review which apps have access to Siri and disable any that you don’t want to use this feature. Sometimes, certain apps can trigger Siri or be affected by its activation.

Finally, keep your device updated. Apple often releases updates that improve privacy and fix bugs. Staying current ensures you have the latest protections against unintentional activations.

By adjusting these settings, you can better protect your privacy and prevent Siri from turning on unexpectedly, giving you a little more peace of mind during your conversations.
