If you have a 64GB drive and want to use it with your computer, there are two main options you can consider.
First, if you just want to use the drive for storage, you’ll need to initialize it using the Disk Management tool on your Windows computer. To do this, right-click on the Start button, select “Disk Management,” and then find your new drive. Once you locate it, right-click on the drive and choose “Initialize Disk.” After initializing, you can create new partitions and format the drive so it’s ready to store files. Once formatted, you can easily drag and drop files or copy and paste them onto the drive from your computer.
The second option is to try making the drive bootable so you can install and run Windows directly from it. To do this, you’ll need a bootable USB drive with the Windows 11 installation media. You can create this using the Media Creation Tool available from Microsoft’s website. After creating the bootable USB, restart your computer and boot from the USB drive. When the Windows setup screen appears, choose “Install Now,” and when asked where to install Windows, select your 1TB drive. Windows will then create all necessary partitions and complete the installation. If successful, you should be able to boot into Windows directly from your M.2 SSD.
If the boot process doesn’t work, you can always go back to Disk Management and format the SATA SSD to make it a clean, storage-only drive again, ensuring it’s ready for future use.
Good luck, and I hope your setup goes smoothly!
