Google Chrome features an advanced security option called Enhanced Safe Browsing, which leverages real-time artificial intelligence to defend against cyber threats. Unlike the basic Safe Browsing, which relies on a static database of known malicious sites, Enhanced Safe Browsing actively detects threats that are still unknown by analyzing suspicious downloads and behaviors on-the-fly.
Although Google has not disclosed specific technical details, they describe the process as conducting thorough scans for suspicious content and providing better security for users and the entire web community.
It’s important to note that Enhanced Safe Browsing offers lower privacy levels compared to standard Safe Browsing. This mode transmits URLs of visited sites, snippets of page content, information about downloads, extension activities, and system details to Google Safe Browsing servers for analysis. Moreover, this data is linked to your Google Account to enhance security features across services like Gmail, offering increased protection but at the cost of greater data sharing.
Google Chrome has a new AI-driven feature called Enhanced Safe Browsing intended to shield users from dangerous websites and downloads.
If you seek real-time defenses against emerging threats like malware and phishing sites, enabling Enhanced Safe Browsing will provide greater security. However, this feature is not turned on by default, requiring manual activation.
To activate it, open Chrome’s menu (the three-dot icon), then go to Settings > Privacy and security > Safe Browsing, and select “Enhanced protection.” You can also click the arrow to view detailed explanations of each setting option.
