If you’re looking to launch cloud computing instances but find that F1 instances are no longer available to new customers, don’t worry—there’s a good alternative. You can use F2 instances instead, which are designed to offer similar capabilities.

It’s important to know that Amazon is retiring the F1 instances on December 20, 2025. If you’ve previously used F1 instances between December 2023 and December 2024, you can still restart or create new F1 instances during that period. However, after December 20, 2025, F1 instances and data stored on their local storage will no longer be accessible.

To avoid any loss of important data, make sure to transfer everything stored on the F1 local storage before that date. Moving your data early ensures a smooth transition to F2 instances or another alternative, preventing any disruption to your work.
