Have a dim corner in your house that doesn’t receive enough light? Here’s a simple fix: a small, battery-powered, motion-activated light that’s quick to install, requires minimal maintenance, and is incredibly affordable—so much so that you’ll wonder why you didn’t buy one sooner.

Since moving into my new home, I’ve added several of these lights around the house. They’ve completely transformed the ambiance in unexpected ways, all without breaking the bank.

Not sure what I mean? Take a look at these OxyLED cordless lights on Amazon. Although they’re labeled as “under cabinet” lights, they’re versatile enough to use anywhere. Available in a 3-pack for just $17.99, that’s about $6 per unit—especially affordable if you catch a sale!

Ever since moving in, I’ve noticed all sorts of poorly lit areas—closets, crawl spaces, linen closets, staircases, and even the shed out back—are perpetually dark. Hiring an electrician or running visible extension cords isn’t an option for me right now, nor do I want unsightly wiring cluttering my space.

That’s where a battery-powered light comes in. I simply stick it to any wall, shelf, or appliance. These lights are just small LED strips with a metallic backing, which attaches magnetically to a strip that sticks using double-sided tape. Pop in four AAA rechargeable batteries, and you’re ready to light up your space!

The built-in motion sensor keeps the light off until it detects movement, while a light sensor prevents it from turning on during bright daylight. If your closet gets sufficient sunlight during the day, the light will activate mainly at night or on cloudy days. The brightness is about 56 lumens—enough to light up a dark space—and it can operate continuously for around nine hours. In my experience, with regular use, the battery lasts for months without needing a recharge.

The magnetic strip and adhesive tape are sturdy enough to keep the light mounted securely. Since there’s no wiring or screws involved, you can easily reposition the light whenever needed—just remove, peel, and re-attach in a new spot.

And the best part? These OxyLED lights are incredibly affordable. You could outfit your entire home with them for less than $50, easily illuminating closets and hidden nooks. Using rechargeable batteries reduces ongoing costs—the only maintenance needed is swapping out a charged set of AAA batteries as necessary.

I’m genuinely glad I invested in these lights. If you’re looking to brighten any space in your home, this is an inexpensive, effective solution. Highly recommended!
