If you own an Omen by Obelisk Desktop 875-0014 and want to upgrade your Wi-Fi to take advantage of your new Xfinity XB8-T router with Wi-Fi 6, here’s what you need to know.

First, you’ll want to get a Wi-Fi 6 network card, like the Intel AX200. However, before buying one, it’s important to check if your desktop can support that card. The Intel AX200 uses an M.2 Key E socket, specifically the 2230 size.

The problem is, you need to confirm what type of M.2 slot your Omen desktop has. The 875-0014 model typically uses M.2 slots that are key M or B, which are for SSD drives, not for Wi-Fi cards. The M.2 Key E slot is usually dedicated for Wi-Fi modules, but not all desktops include this slot.

Unfortunately, without knowing the exact motherboard specs, it’s hard to say for certain which M.2 slots your computer has. Most likely, your desktop does not have a dedicated Key E M.2 slot for a Wi-Fi card, which means you can’t simply install an AX200 directly.

So, what can you do? You could consider alternative solutions like using a USB Wi-Fi 6 adapter. These are easy to install and compatible with most desktops, including the Omen. Just plug it into a USB port, install the necessary drivers, and you’ll be able to use Wi-Fi 6 without worrying about your motherboard’s M.2 slots.

If you really want to install a PCIe Wi-Fi card, you can check your desktop’s specifications or open up the case to see if there’s an available PCIe expansion slot. Then, you can purchase a compatible Wi-Fi 6 PCIe card that will fit into that slot.

In summary, since your desktop most likely doesn’t have the right M.2 socket for the AX200, best option is to use a USB Wi-Fi 6 adapter or add a PCIe Wi-Fi card if your system allows. This way, you’ll be able to upgrade to Wi-Fi 6 easily and enjoy the faster, more reliable internet connection from your new router.
