The LG G4 ranks among the finest TVs we've tested this year. Whether you're enjoying the top-tier model or the C4, B4, or any of LG's other options, we're here to assist you in optimizing your viewing experience.
Prepare to adjust your LG TV settings—from disabling features that might hinder your experience to maximizing its brightness.
Turn these features off now
Certain features might prevent your TV from showcasing its full potential, so it's advisable to turn them off.
To start, you should disable the Energy Saving feature. (While we are environmental advocates, your viewing quality is also a priority.) If you prefer not to limit your TV's brightness, it’s best to disable this feature. Use your remote to hit the Settings button, then select the gear icon at the top corner of the screen. Navigate to General, then to Energy Saving, and finally, Energy Saving Step. It’s advisable to turn this Off completely.

When adjusting Picture Settings, remember to disable Eye Comfort Mode. Hit the Settings button on your remote, scroll down in the quick menu to Eye Comfort Mode, and turn it Off. This feature is also referred to as the Reduce Blue Light setting, discoverable by accessing the gear icon, heading to Picture, then Advanced Settings, and finally Reduce Blue Light. Keeping this setting enabled can make the display appear overly warm.
Set the perfect picture mode, best brightness
To easily access different picture modes, press the Settings button on your remote and scroll to Picture Mode. You can toggle through various options here. Alternatively, you can select Picture (as previously mentioned) and then click on Select Mode. Cinema and Filmmaker Mode are excellent selections.

If you are experienced with color settings, two Expert modes are available for you. For regular viewing of shows and movies, steer clear of the Vivid, Standard, and Sports settings: All three tend to overly enhance colors, which can render the picture unnatural.
When adjusting brightness, consider settings for both SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) and HDR (High Dynamic Range).

For SDR content, access the Home Screen using your remote, press the Settings button, and select OLED Pixel Brightness. Any brightness adjustments made here will apply to all SDR content.

To modify HDR brightness settings, find content that supports HDR, such as shows on streaming platforms (YouTube is also a popular, accessible source—check out Eugene Belsky’s videos). A notification will appear at the top right corner when you are viewing HDR content.
After discovering HDR content, proceed with the same steps as for SDR brightness adjustments (you will see "Picture Mode" now labeled as "HDR Picture Mode"). Select your desired level in OLED Pixel Brightness, and changes made here will affect HDR content.

To maximize your viewing experience, consider adjusting the Peak Brightness. Navigate to Settings, select Picture, then Advanced Settings, and finally Brightness. Go down to Peak Brightness and set it to High. This setting controls the maximum light output on the screen, influencing the entire display. Feel free to raise the brightness to 100, as long as it remains comfortable for your eyes.
Get smoother movement, device connectivity
When it comes to motion smoothing, it's largely a matter of personal preference: you may notice the difference, or you might not.

To adjust settings on your LG TV, begin with the Advanced Settings menu. Select Clarity, then navigate to TruMotion, a feature designed to enhance image clarity for fast-moving scenes. We suggest turning this Off. For a more natural viewing experience, especially for movies and shows, enable the Real Cinema setting, which tweaks the frame rate to suit the film. Since motion clarity is subjective, feel free to experiment until you find your ideal setup.

You can also adjust settings for external devices for better convenience. If you are using a soundbar, Blu-ray player, or gaming console, enable HDMI-CEC for easier control. Press the Settings button on your remote, then the gear icon on the screen. Navigate to General, then External Devices. In HDMI Settings, find SimpLink HDMI-CEC and make sure it’s activated. This allows you to power devices on and off using your TV remote.

With these adjustments, your LG TV will better align with your viewing preferences.
If you have a different brand of TV and want to make similar modifications, many modern TVs have corresponding features to LG's, though they may have different labels which can be a bit confusing. If you need guidance for brands like Samsung, Sony, Hisense, TCL, or Panasonic, we have resources available for those models as well.
