If you’re experiencing trouble copying text from a website, it can be frustrating. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution to fix this issue and enable easy copying of content.

First, check your browser settings. Sometimes, browser extensions or security settings can prevent copying. Disable any extensions that might interfere, especially those related to security or scripting, and see if that helps.

Next, try restarting your browser or opening the webpage in a different browser. Sometimes, the issue is browser-specific and switching can resolve it.

If you’re still unable to copy text, the problem might be caused by website restrictions. Many sites disable right-click or text selection to prevent copying. One way around this is to use your browser’s developer tools:

  1. Right-click on the webpage and select “Inspect” or press F12 to open the developer console.
  2. Use the element selector to hover over the text you’re trying to copy.
  3. Once highlighted in the Elements tab, right-click on the highlighted code and choose “Edit as HTML.”
  4. Copy the text directly from the HTML code.

Another option is to take a screenshot of the content and then use an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool to extract the text from the image. Many free online OCR tools are available—simply upload the screenshot, and the tool will convert the image to text.

If the website still blocks copying, you can try this quick hack:

  • Highlight the text you want with your mouse.
  • Press Ctrl + C (or Cmd + C on Mac) to copy.
  • If this doesn’t work, try first selecting the text with your mouse, then pressing F8 (which is the shortcut for ‘Extend Selection’) in some browsers, then pressing Ctrl + C again.

Sometimes, simply viewing the webpage in “Reader Mode” (available in most browsers) can disable restrictions and allow you to copy the text freely.

By following these steps, you should be able to copy content from most websites, even if restrictions are in place. If all else fails, taking a screenshot and using OCR is a practical fallback.
