If your fingerprint sensor isn’t working properly, you might need to manually install its driver. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you get it up and running.
First, locate the device in your Device Manager. It will usually appear as an Unknown device and have a hardware ID like USB\VID_138A&PID_003C. Remember this ID, as it will be useful later.
Next, you’ll need to download the driver for the fingerprint sensor. You can find the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver through this link: Download Driver. Save the file to your computer and run it. Most likely, this won’t automatically update your device, so you’ll need to do it manually.
Open your Device Manager again, right-click on the unknown device with the matching hardware ID, and choose ‘Update driver.’ Then select ‘Browse my computer for drivers.’ Navigate to the folder created when you ran the driver setup. This folder is typically located at C:\SWSetup\sp58900. Make sure to check the box that says ‘Include subfolders’ so all necessary files are included. The driver should install successfully after this.
If you find other devices with unknown statuses and need their drivers, just find their hardware IDs in the same way. For help identifying device IDs, you can follow this helpful guide: How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices.
Once you’ve installed all the necessary drivers, your fingerprint sensor and other devices should work correctly.
