If you’re trying to install Windows on a laptop with an Intel Core 11th Gen processor, you might run into a problem where the installer doesn’t recognize your storage drive. This happens because the Windows installer needs Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers to detect the drive properly. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to add these drivers and complete your installation smoothly.
First, create a bootable USB drive with the Windows installation files using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. This tool is reliable and usually makes the process easier than using an ISO file-based USB.
Next, download the Intel RST driver from the link provided below. Make sure to run the downloaded file as an administrator and follow the prompts to extract the driver files.

After the files are extracted, navigate to the folder where they are stored, typically at C:\SWSetup\sp146929. Inside, find and copy the folder named “F6” to the root directory of your Windows installation USB drive. This folder contains the necessary IRST drivers that Windows needs to detect your storage device during installation.
Now, connect your USB drive to the notebook and restart the system. Make sure to boot from the USB drive—usually by pressing a key during startup (such as F12, F10, or ESC, depending on your model). When the Windows setup screen appears and asks where to install Windows, click “Load Driver.” Then, browse to the USB drive, open the “F6” folder, and select it.
You might see multiple driver files ending with .inf. Select one and click “Next.” If no drivers show up, uncheck the box at the bottom left corner that says “Hide drivers that are not compatible,” and then look for a file named “iaStorVD.inf.” Select this and click “Next” to load the driver.
At this point, your storage drive should appear, possibly with multiple partitions. Delete all existing partitions so that only unallocated space remains. Then, click “Next” to proceed with the Windows installation on this unallocated space.
Following these steps will help your Windows installer recognize your storage drive, allowing you to install the operating system smoothly on your Intel 11th Gen notebook.
