If your new iPhone Air isn’t responding to voice commands with spoken responses, but instead replies with text, here’s a simple fix you can try. Many users find that adjusting a few settings can make a big difference.
First, open the Settings app on your phone. Then, scroll down and tap on “Siri & Apple Intelligence.” From there, select “Siri Responses.” Make sure that “Prefer Spoken Responses” is turned on. This setting tells your iPhone to answer you out loud rather than just text.
Next, consider how your phone handles voice responses in your car. You might see options to decide where Siri’s responses are spoken — whether through your car radio, media source, or your phone’s speakers. Choose the option that best suits your setup.
If Siri still isn’t speaking to you, try this: ask Siri a question. While she’s speaking, increase your phone’s volume. It’s important to note that Siri’s voice volume can be adjusted separately from your media and call volumes. You can’t change her volume outside of a conversation, so doing this during a response is easiest.
Follow these steps, and you should start hearing Siri respond verbally again. If it still doesn’t work, double-check your volume settings or restart your phone to see if that helps.
