Having trouble getting Siri to respond when you say “Hey Siri”? You’re not alone! Many people rely on this feature to quickly access their phone, so it can be frustrating when it stops working, especially when everything seems to be set up right. If you’re facing this issue despite your phone being up-to-date with iOS 17, don’t worry — here are some simple steps to help fix it:
First, check if “Hey Siri” is turned on. Go to your Settings, then tap on Siri & Search. Make sure both “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’” and “Allow Siri When Locked” are turned on. Sometimes the feature gets turned off without us realizing it.
Next, ensure your voice recognition is activated. Still in the Siri & Search settings, tap on “Hey Siri & Suggestions,” and then make sure your voice has been trained for Siri. If not, retrain it by following the on-screen instructions. Training your voice helps Siri recognize your commands more reliably.
Also, check your microphone. Siri won’t respond if your phone can’t hear you clearly. Open the Voice Memos app and record a quick message. If it sounds muffled or distorted, you might need to clean the microphone openings or get your phone checked for hardware issues.
Another simple fix is restarting your iPhone. Sometimes, a quick reboot can reset minor glitches that prevent Siri from listening properly. Hold down the power button and either volume button (for iPhones with Face ID), then slide to power off. Turn your phone back on and test Siri again.
If none of these steps work, try resetting your Siri settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset, and choose “Reset All Settings.” This won’t delete your data but will reset system settings to defaults, which can fix underlying issues.
Still having trouble? It might be a bug that’s fixed in a future update, so keep your iOS up-to-date. If everything else fails, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for help.
By following these steps, you should be able to restore “Hey Siri” functionality and make your phone respond to your voice commands again.
