If you’ve recently gotten a new iPhone 16 and are excited to use Siri, but suddenly find it not responding properly, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Many users encounter this issue where Siri lights up when you say “Hey Siri,” but then doesn’t do what you ask or respond as expected. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help fix this problem and get your voice assistant running smoothly again.

First, make sure that “Hey Siri” is enabled correctly. Go to your settings, tap on Siri & Search, and then confirm that Listen for “Hey Siri” is turned on. Sometimes, this setting might get toggled off accidentally during updates or adjustments.

Next, check your microphone to make sure Siri can hear you clearly. Open an app like Voice Memos or Phone, and record a quick message. Play it back to see if your voice sounds clear and loud. If you notice muffled sound or no recording, clean your microphone openings with a soft brush or cloth. If it still doesn’t work properly, there might be a hardware issue needing professional help.

Since your iOS version is 26.0.1, it’s also good to ensure your phone is updated to the latest software available. Sometimes, updates fix bugs related to Siri and other features. To check for updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

It’s worth restarting your iPhone after making these changes. Turn it off completely, then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart refreshes the system and solves minor glitches.

If Siri is still not responding, try resetting your network settings. This can fix issues where Siri isn’t functioning due to network problems. To do this, navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind, this will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords, so make sure you know them before proceeding.

Another step is to toggle Siri off and on again. Under Settings > Siri & Search, disable Siri, then restart your phone, and re-enable it.

Finally, if none of these steps work, consider reaching out to Apple Support. There might be an underlying hardware problem, especially with the microphone or sensors, that requires professional diagnosis.

Following these steps should help restore Siri’s responsiveness and make your voice assistant a helpful part of your iPhone experience again.
