If you’ve recently updated your iPad and noticed that some features like GENMOJI and Image Playground with GENMOJI aren’t showing up, don’t worry — you’re not missing out due to your software version. The key reason is the hardware inside your device, not just the software update.
GENMOJI and related features were introduced with iPadOS 18. Specifically, Apple brought these features to certain iPads that have the latest hardware. For example, the iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip supports these features. If your iPad doesn’t have this chip or newer hardware, it won’t support GENMOJI or the image playground features, even after updating to iPadOS 26.
So, what can you do if you want to use those features? The only real solution is to upgrade to a newer iPad model that supports the required hardware. Unfortunately, no software update can add hardware capabilities that aren’t present inside your device.
Remember to check your iPad’s model and chip to see if it supports these new features before trying to access them. You can usually find this information in your device settings or on Apple’s official website. Upgrading might be the best way to enjoy the latest Apple Intelligence features and enjoy everything new that recent updates have to offer.
