Having your printer keep going offline can be really frustrating. I faced this issue with my HP LaserJet 4155e not too long ago, and I found a solution that worked well for me. Usually, it’s not a hardware problem but related to the printer losing its IP address or your computer caching an old one.
Here’s what you can try:
First, turn off your printer and unplug it. Leave it unplugged for about a minute before plugging it back in. This helps reset the printer’s connection.
Next, restart your Wi-Fi router completely. Wait until it’s fully up and running before moving to the next step. A fully restarted router ensures your network is fresh and ready.
Once your router is back online, turn your printer back on. Look at the wireless light on the printer; it should turn a solid blue, indicating a good connection.
On your computer, go to the ‘Printers & Scanners’ settings. Find your HP printer, select it, and choose ‘Remove device’ to delete it from your system.
Now, open HP Smart. Click on ‘Set up a new printer’ and follow the prompts to reconnect the printer. This process essentially resets the connection and often resolves the offline issue.
After completing these steps, your printer should start printing again without trouble. However, if it keeps going offline, it’s a good idea to assign a static IP address to your printer through your router’s settings. This prevents the IP from changing each time your router restarts.
If none of these steps work, you might want to contact HP Support. They can help walk you through a network reset or help check if your firmware needs an update. They were very helpful when I reached out to them.

Try these steps, and hopefully, your printer will be back to working perfectly!
