If you’re using a Mac Studio M2 Max and find that saying, “Hey Siri” doesn’t activate Siri, even though Siri works when you open it with the keyboard or mouse, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Many users experience this issue, and it’s often fixable with a few simple steps.
First, make sure that Siri is enabled on your Mac. You can do this by clicking the Apple menu, going to System Settings (or System Preferences), and selecting Siri. Check if the option for “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’” is turned on. If it isn’t, toggle it on. Sometimes, this setting gets turned off accidentally.
Next, verify your microphone settings. Since you’re using a Yeti Blue microphone, ensure it’s properly selected as your input device. Go to System Settings > Sound > Input, and choose the Yeti Blue from the list. Speak into the microphone and check if the input level moves, indicating the device is working properly.
If everything looks good but “Hey Siri” still isn’t waking up, try restarting your Mac. Sometimes, a reboot can resolve small glitches.
Also, ensure that your macOS is updated to the latest version, as updates often fix bugs related to Siri and microphone input.
Finally, test the microphone outside of Siri to make sure it’s working properly. Open an app like Voice Memos, start recording, and speak into the Yeti Blue. If it captures your voice clearly, then the microphone is fine.
If after all these steps “Hey Siri” still isn’t responding, you might want to reset Siri. Go to System Settings > Siri, turn off Siri, then turn it back on. Also, consider removing and re-adding your Apple ID in case there’s a problem with permissions.
By following these steps, most users find that their “Hey Siri” function starts working again. If the problem persists, checking with Apple Support might be the best next move.
