If you’re trying to fix your HP Spectre that won’t boot up and you’re following troubleshooting steps but hit a wall, here’s a simple guide to help you move forward.
First, to boot from a USB drive, press the Esc key, then tap F9 repeatedly. When the boot menu appears, select your USB drive. This will allow you to start the recovery process from your USB stick.
However, if you’re stuck seeing only the black screen with the HP logo and can’t access the setup screen, don’t worry. The next step is to check your Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) and Optane configuration. To do this, restart your computer and enter the BIOS settings. You can usually do this by pressing a specific key during startup—often Esc or F10—but for this model, once in BIOS, go to UEFI Configuration and then select Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Find the Optane Volume section; you should see your Optane volume along with two disks listed.
Next, look for the Disable option. Selecting this will turn off the Optane cache without deleting any data from your main SSD. Keep in mind, disabling Optane may take a few minutes—don’t interrupt or turn off your system during this process, as it can be time-consuming.
Once you’ve disabled Optane, you’ll need to access additional recovery options. Restart your computer and go to the Repair your computer menu. From there, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt. This will open a command-line window where you can run further repair commands to fix your system.
Remember, these steps can help get your computer back up and running when other methods don’t work. Just be patient, and don’t rush any of the processes. Good luck!
