Having trouble turning on your flashlight using Siri? If you ask Siri to turn on the flashlight and get the message, “Sorry, the torch isn’t available right now,” don’t worry—you’re not alone. Many users have experienced this, especially after updating to iOS 16.
Here’s a simple way to fix this issue:
First, check if your camera is working properly. The flashlight is linked to the camera hardware, so if the camera app is blocked or encountering an error, Siri might not be able to turn on the flashlight. Open your Camera app and try turning on the flashlight manually. If it works, proceed to the next step. If it doesn’t, restart your iPhone and try again.
Next, try turning on the flashlight from the Control Center. Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen (on iPhone X or newer) or swipe up from the bottom (on older models). Tap the flashlight icon to turn it on. If this works, then the problem might be with Siri only.
If the flashlight still doesn’t turn on, restart your phone. Sometimes a simple reboot can solve temporary glitches. To do this, press and hold the side button and either volume button until the power off slider appears. Slide to power off, then turn your phone back on.
You should also check for any software updates. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, install it. Updated software often fixes bugs that cause issues like this.
Lastly, if none of these steps work, you might need to reset your settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will erase your preferences but won’t delete your apps or data. After resetting, try using Siri again.
If the problem continues, it might be a hardware issue or a deeper software bug. Contact Apple Support for help. Following these straightforward steps can usually fix Siri’s flashlight problem, getting you back to using your flashlight with just your voice.
