Have you ever noticed that when someone calls or texts you, your AirPods play a frustrating game of hide-and-seek with Siri? Instead of calling your friends by name, Siri announces "someone" when you receive a message or call. If you’re having this issue and want to get it fixed, you’re in the right place! Here’s a simple guide to help you solve this annoying problem.
Step 1: Check Your Contact Names
Sometimes, the simplest solution is the right one. Make sure all your contacts are saved correctly in your phone. Open your contacts app, look for any missing names, or check for any inconsistencies.
Step 2: Check Siri’s Settings
- Go to Settings on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on Siri & Search.
- Make sure Announce Messages with Siri is turned on.
This ensures that Siri is set to notify you about your messages properly.
Step 3: Update Your Device
- Open Settings.
- Tap General and then Software Update.
Updating your iPhone ensures that any bugs affecting Siri are fixed.
Step 4: Reset Siri’s Voice Feedback
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Siri & Search.
- Find the option for Voice Feedback and set it to Always On.
This ensures that Siri will announce the contact names as expected.
Step 5: Restart Your iPhone and AirPods
Sometimes all it takes is a quick reboot. Turn off your iPhone and AirPods, then turn them back on. This can reset any minor glitches that are causing the issue.
Step 6: Pair AirPods Again
If the problem persists, try unpairing and then re-pairing your AirPods.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth.
- Find your AirPods and tap the "i" icon next to them.
- Select Forget This Device.
- Put your AirPods back in the case, close it, and wait a few seconds.
- Open the lid and hold the button on the back until the light blinks white.
- Reconnect them to your iPhone.
By following these steps, you should be able to get Siri to recognize and announce your contacts by name again. Enjoy clearer communication and less frustration with your AirPods!
