Some Reddit users have made a startling discovery—Steam has a hidden feature that reveals your total spending on the platform, leaving many users both shocked and appalled.

If you’re curious to check it out for yourself, simply log into your Steam account and follow this path: Help > Steam Support > My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account > External Funds Used. After confirming your login again, you’ll find your spending summarized into five distinct categories:

  • TotalSpend
  • OldSpend
  • PWSpend
  • ChinaSpend
  • PackageOnlySpend

Here’s what each category means: “TotalSpend” represents your overall spending on Steam; “OldSpend” refers to the amount you spent before April 17, 2015; “PWSpend” tracks funding related to Perfect World linked to titles like CS:GO or Dota 2; “ChinaSpend” shows your expenditures on Steam China; and “PackageOnlySpend” involves funds used externally. All your totals are displayed in US dollars, except for ChinaSpend, which is calculated in Chinese Yuan.

This handy feature can feel like both a useful tool and a wake-up call. Have you ever pondered how much you’ve actually spent on Steam over the years? The results might just startle you—and could inspire you to tackle that ever-growing game backlog instead of diving into more Steam Sales for titles you may never get around to playing.
