If you’re trying to find old posts on a community forum but don’t have a direct link, don’t worry—there are several simple ways to do it.

First, you can check your subscriptions. Go to the community page and click on your or another user’s avatar picture to visit their profile page. Then, click on the “My Subscriptions” tab. This will show a list of the threads that user is following. A thread is a topic with a question and all the replies related to it. Keep in mind, “My Subscriptions” shows threads you’ve participated in, not individual posts. If you don’t see your name on the list, you’ll need to open a thread and scroll through it to find your posts. This method works best for recent activity, especially if you’re viewing your own profile. However, it only shows activity from about the last three months, even though the forum has older posts stored. Also, if the user follows other topics or users, you’ll see those threads too, which might make searching a bit more cluttered.

Another way to search is through a general internet search engine like Google or Bing. Simply type your username followed by “site:discussions.apple.com” (or the specific forum’s website). For example, type: Limnos site:discussions.apple.com. This helps you find posts made by your username from earlier times. You can refine your search by adding quotes around specific phrases you remember from your posts, like: Limnos site:discussions.apple.com “My subscriptions.” If you don’t find what you’re looking for with one search engine, try another, as they sometimes index different parts of the forum at different times. Many search engines let you narrow results by date, so you can look for posts within specific timeframes.

Just a heads up—some sections of the community, like the Lounge, are restricted and won’t show up in these searches. For more detailed tips on web searching, you can check here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250002680.

The third option is to use the community’s built-in search feature. This works best if someone has replied to you using your username. To do this, go to the community page and click on the word “Search” in the menu bar (not the magnifying glass icon). Enter your username or any keywords related to your post. You can also add topics to narrow down the search. After the results appear, click on “Filter” on the left side to select categories like posts from the past month in the iPhone community. Keep in mind, results aren’t shown in chronological order; instead, you’ll see a mix depending on filters you choose. If you’ve been active for many years, expect a lot of results. Interestingly, while this method can sometimes bring up posts from as early as 2006, a broader web search might reach back further, like to 2002.

A few additional points: If moderators removed your post for breaking the rules, it won’t show up in your post history. The same applies if you replied to a post or thread that was later deleted. Also, if you changed your username on the forum, your posts should still be accessible under your new name via the “My Subscriptions” section. But when doing a general web search, remember to include your old usernames for earlier posts.

Using these tools and tips, you should be able to locate most of your old community posts with a little patience.
