If you’re trying to turn on Secure Boot on your HP ProBook 450 G2 but it’s not working, there might be a simple reason behind this. I’ve answered a similar question before, and here’s what I found:

Secure Boot can only be enabled if your Windows installation is set up correctly. Specifically, your system needs to be using UEFI mode instead of Legacy BIOS/CSM. If your Windows was originally installed using MBR (Master Boot Record) partition style or if you installed Windows by booting from a BIOS-based USB drive, then Secure Boot won’t be available.

To fix this, you’ll need to convert your disk from MBR to GPT (GUID Partition Table) and reinstall Windows using a UEFI boot mode. Here’s what to do:

1. Back up all your important data before making changes to your disk setup.
2. Convert your disk from MBR to GPT. You can do this using Disk Management or Command Prompt. Keep in mind, converting a disk usually requires deleting all partitions, so a backup is essential.
3. Make sure your BIOS settings are set to UEFI mode instead of Legacy/CSM mode:
– Restart your computer and press the key to enter BIOS setup (usually F10 or Esc during startup).
– Find the Boot Options or Security tab.
– Switch the Boot Mode from Legacy to UEFI.
4. Save and exit BIOS, then reinstall Windows if necessary, making sure to boot from your installation media in UEFI mode.
5. Once Windows is installed in UEFI mode, go back to Secure Boot settings and enable it.

Remember, without converting your disk to GPT and installing Windows properly using UEFI, enabling Secure Boot isn’t possible. If you’re unsure how to do this, consider seeking help from a professional or following detailed guides online that walk you through disk conversion and UEFI installation steps.
