If you’re having trouble with your HP printer not printing in color, here’s a simple solution to try. First, double-check that your computer is using the correct HP driver instead of a generic Microsoft driver like IPP or Class driver.

To do this, open the Control Panel on your PC. Then, go to “Devices and Printers” and right-click on your printer’s icon. Select “Printer Properties” from the menu. Click on the “Advanced” tab, and look at the driver name listed. If it’s labeled as a Microsoft driver or anything other than HP, you’ll need to remove the printer and reinstall the proper HP driver for your device.

Head over to support.hp.com to download the latest driver package suited for your printer model. Install this driver carefully following the prompts, and then reconnect your printer. This step ensures your printer is running with the correct software, which can fix color printing issues.

If your driver is already set correctly, there’s another simple setting to change within your printer options. Again, go to “Devices and Printers” from the Control Panel, right-click your printer, and choose “Printer Properties.”

From there, click on the “Device Settings” tab. Scroll down until you see “Device Type,” and check the current setting. If it’s set to something like “Black & White” or “Monochrome,” change it to “Color.” This adjustment should enable your printer to print in full color again.

By following these steps, you can usually fix color printing problems and get your printer working like new. If these tips help, consider marking this advice as your solution. Sharing helpful information makes it easier for others to solve similar issues. Remember, this advice is provided by a fellow user, not an official HP representative.
