Are you still using the HP Scan and Capture app? If so, it’s time to make a change. Starting on May 1, 2024, HP will retire the app from the Microsoft Store, and there won’t be any more updates. But don’t worry—there’s a great alternative: the HP Smart app. Here’s how you can easily switch to HP Smart and continue scanning and managing your printer with ease.

  1. Download the HP Smart App
Begin by downloading the HP Smart app. Open the Microsoft Store on your computer, then search for "HP Smart". Click on the app and choose "Get" or "Install." It should download and install quickly.

  2. Open the App
Once the installation is complete, launch the HP Smart app from your Start menu or desktop. You might be greeted with a welcome screen showing the app’s features.

  3. Connect Your Printer
The next step is to connect your printer. Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. The app will usually search for available printers automatically. When it finds your printer, select it from the list.

  4. Set Up Your Printer
If this is your first time using the app, you may need to go through a quick setup process. Follow the prompts on the screen to configure your settings and preferences, including any printer software updates.

  5. Start Scanning
Once your printer is properly set up, you can begin scanning. Click on the “Scan” option from the main menu. Choose your scan settings, like color or file type, then hit the “Scan” button. Your scanned documents will be saved directly on your computer or uploaded to the cloud, depending on your preference.

  6. Explore Additional Features
The HP Smart app does more than just scanning. You can also check ink levels, order new cartridges, and even print documents directly from the app. Take some time to explore all the tools and options available to optimize your printing experience.

By making the switch to the HP Smart app, you can ensure that you continue to enjoy seamless printing and scanning, even after the HP Scan and Capture app is retired. If you need more detailed instructions on setup, visit the HP support page for comprehensive guidance.

Now that you’re all set up, enjoy your printing tasks with better functionality and support from HP!
