Microsoft has introduced an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature within the Windows Photos application, enabling it to identify and extract text from images automatically.
To utilize this function, simply open an image containing text using the Photos app. Next, select the “Scan text” option—represented by a rounded square icon with three horizontal lines—situated at the bottom of the interface. It appears adjacent to the “Visual search with Bing” button, making it easily recognizable.
After clicking, the app will analyze the image, highlight all detected text, and allow you to interact with it as if it were regular text. You can highlight specific sections, right-click for options like copying, selecting all, or searching through Bing for more information about the highlighted content.
This feature is particularly useful when working with screenshots of documents or web pages, providing a quick and efficient way to extract and utilize the desired text snippets.
