Cooking meals in Monster Hunter Wilds can be done automatically, but if you want to enjoy a perfectly grilled Well-Done Steak, you’ll need to put in a bit of effort and timing. When you're feeling hungry during a hunt, a Well-Done Steak is one of the best foods to prepare.
Mastering the timing for cooking a perfect steak can be challenging when you first use your Portable Grill. However, with practice, you'll become a pro chef in no time. Here’s how to successfully grill a Well-Done Steak in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to Grill a Well-Done Steak in Monster Hunter Wilds
Sometimes the most satisfying meals while hunting are the simplest. All you need is some Raw Meat in your inventory and your Portable BBQ Grill.
Step 1: Open your item pouch until you find the Portable BBQ Grill. Equip it by pressing Square/X on the controller (E key on the keyboard).
Step 2: If you have Raw Meat in your possession, your character will automatically start the cooking minigame. To achieve a perfect cook, wait about a second after your hunter flips the meat and then press the interact button to complete the grilling process.

Step 3: The next part has you cutting the meat into five pieces, which requires precise timing. Listen closely to the music and hit the interact button in sync with the beat as soon as your hunter begins to chop.

Step 4: If you execute the grilling and cutting perfectly, you should end up with 12 Well-Done Steaks from that single piece of Raw Meat. However, if your timing is off, you may only get six.
On the other hand, cooking improperly could yield Rare Steak or Burnt Meat. Understanding the differences between these types of meat is vital for achieving the buffs you need:
- Rare Steak: Temporarily increases the maximum health, while restoring some health and stamina.
- Well-Done Steak: Temporarily boosts the maximum health and fully restores health and stamina.
- Burnt Meat: Only restores a small amount of stamina.

Where to Find Raw Meat
Before you can grill your steak, you'll need to gather some Raw Meat, which is fairly easy to obtain.
Target smaller monsters in the wild; defeating them is much simpler than taking on larger ones, and doing so will yield Raw Meat. Alternatively, you can occasionally receive Raw Meat as quest or rank rewards.
