If you’re having trouble with audio not working on your Windows 10 laptop, there’s a simple fix you can try. Sometimes, the problem is due to outdated or incompatible audio drivers. Here’s what you can do:
First, open the Device Manager. You can do this by clicking on the Start button and typing “Device Manager,” then selecting it from the list.
Once the Device Manager opens, look for the category called “Sound, video and game controllers.” Click on the arrow next to it to expand the list.
Right-click on your audio device (it may be called “Realtek High Definition Audio” or something similar) and choose “Update driver.”
Select “Search automatically for updated driver software.” Windows will now search online for the latest driver. If it finds an update, follow the prompts to install it.
After installing the update, restart your computer to ensure the new driver takes effect.
Test your audio again. If it still doesn’t work, repeat the process but this time choose “Uninstall device” instead of “Update driver.” After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the correct driver.
This process can often resolve sound issues caused by driver problems. If your audio still isn’t working after trying these steps, you might want to check your sound settings or consider downloading drivers directly from the manufacturer’s website.
