It used to be that when you asked Siri, “Hey Siri,” she would immediately respond with “How can I help you?” Now, instead, Siri gives a soft ding sound and then waits quietly for your question or command. If you’d like Siri to respond with “How can I help you?” after saying, “Hey Siri,” you’ll need to adjust a setting on your device.
Here’s a simple way to change how Siri responds:
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Scroll down and tap on “Siri & Search.”
3. Look for the setting called “Listen for ‘Hey Siri’.” Make sure it’s turned on.
4. Next, tap on “Siri Responses.”
5. When you see options for Siri’s responses, select “Always Show Transcript” or “Show Prompts & Responses” depending on your preference.
6. Additionally, check if “Feedback” is set to “Always” so Siri will always reply out loud.
If Siri still doesn’t respond with “How can I help you?” after these adjustments, it might just be that Apple has changed the default behavior in recent updates. In that case, you can try reactivating Siri or resetting your voice settings:
– To reset Siri: Turn off “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'” and “Press Side Button for Siri,” then turn them back on.
– To re-train Siri to recognize your voice, follow the prompts under “Siri & Search.”
Following these steps should help Siri respond the way you’d like. Remember, sometimes updates change how features work, so keeping your device and Siri settings updated is always a good idea.
