Epic Games has developed a vast collection of some of the top PC games available, regularly adding free titles each week to expand your library. Over time, the platform has transformed into a fully social environment. However, there are moments when you might prefer to keep to yourself and play privately, without friends messaging or knowing what you’re up to. Here’s a simple guide on how to hide your online status on Epic Games when you need a quiet night.
How to Appear Offline on Epic Games
Currently, Epic Games doesn’t offer a straightforward “appear offline” feature like Steam or PlayStation. Nevertheless, there are workarounds to achieve the same effect.
Step 1: Launch your Epic Games launcher.
Step 2: Click on your profile icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Ensure that the option labeled Enable Offline Mode Browsing is checked. This setting allows you to browse and access your library without being actively connected to the online features.
Step 4: Once enabled, you can disconnect your computer from the internet and restart it. This way, you can access your Epic Games library without appearing online or risking notifications. Keep in mind, this method prevents online multiplayer gaming and other live features.
Other options to stay hidden include playing while signed out of your account—though this means you won’t save progress—or using games that have their own “appear offline” feature. Hopefully, Epic Games will introduce an official offline mode setting in the future. Until then, these methods are your best options for playing privately.
