Planning ahead can really help minimize the impact of such disruptions in the future. For example, you might consider using Amazon EC2 AMIs. These images can be restored in a different region if you’ve already kept snapshots in place. Setting up warm standby configurations, where your resources stay synchronized in a remote region, can also make recovery faster. Additionally, continuous data replication ensures your data stays synchronized across regions, so you’re better prepared if something goes wrong.
It’s important to understand that if snapshots are currently unavailable because of the regional outage, your options for migration will be limited until service is restored. This highlights why it’s smart to have in place a multi-region disaster recovery plan beforehand. Regularly copying critical data and configurations to other regions can save you time during unexpected outages.
