If you’re having trouble with your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and need to reset it so you can register your authenticator app again, here’s a simple way to get it done. This process requires an administrator to make the necessary changes in the Azure portal.
First, the admin needs to sign in to the Azure portal and access the Microsoft Entra ID section. Once there, they should navigate to the user’s profile on the left side of the screen. Find and select the user account that can’t log in because of MFA issues.
Next, click on the “Authentication methods” option for that user. Look for the button labeled “Require re-register multifactor authentication” and click on it. This action will force the user’s account to ask for MFA registration again the next time they try to log in.
When the user attempts to access the Azure portal after this change, they will be prompted to set up MFA afresh using their authenticator app. It’s a quick way to resolve MFA issues and will help restore access smoothly.
