Getting into your computer’s BIOS might sound tricky, but it’s actually pretty straightforward once you know what to do. The BIOS is a hidden menu that helps you change important settings on your computer, like the boot order or hardware configuration. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to access it:

First, turn on or restart your computer. As soon as it starts to power up, keep an eye out for a message on the screen. It usually says something like “Press [key] to enter setup” or “Press [key] to access BIOS.” The key you need to press varies depending on your computer’s manufacturer, but common keys are Delete, F2, F10, or Esc.

If you see the message, press the indicated key right away. Sometimes, the window to press the key is very short, so it’s best to be ready to tap it as soon as the screen appears. If your computer starts to load the operating system, don’t worry — just restart it and try again.

If you’re unsure which key to press, check your computer’s manual or look up the specific model online. You can also try pressing the key repeatedly right after turning on the computer to make sure you don’t miss it.

In some cases, especially with newer computers or those using UEFI firmware, the process is a little different, but most still follow the same basic steps. If the key options don’t work, you may need to access BIOS through your operating system’s advanced startup options.

Getting into BIOS isn’t something to worry about. Just keep your eyes peeled for the right message and press the indicated key as soon as you see it. Once inside, be careful when changing settings to avoid causing any issues, and when you’re done, save your changes and exit. That’s all there is to it!
