Are you having trouble using Siri to read your messages on your new iPhone 16e? If you recently upgraded from an iPhone 8 and noticed that Siri no longer reads your messages when your phone is locked, you’re not alone. Many users find this change frustrating. Luckily, there’s a way to fix it.
First, check your Siri settings. Open the Settings app and go to “Siri & Search.” Make sure “Allow Siri When Locked” is turned on. This setting allows you to use Siri even when your phone is locked, which is especially useful when you’re driving or away from your phone.
Next, go to “Notifications.” Find the Messages app and tap on it. Ensure that “Show Previews” is set to “Always” or “When Unlocked,” depending on your preference. This setting helps Siri access your message content even when the phone is locked.
If Siri still isn’t reading messages out loud when locked, you can try enabling “Announce Messages” with your AirPods or compatible headphones. To do this, go to Settings, tap “Notifications,” then “Announce Messages.” Turn on the feature and select your preferred headphones. With this enabled, Siri will read your messages aloud through your headphones while your phone stays locked.
Remember, always keep your software updated. Sometimes, Apple releases updates that improve Siri’s features and fix bugs. To check for updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
By adjusting these settings, you should be able to get Siri to read your messages out loud on your new iPhone 16e just like you did with your old iPhone 8. This will make staying connected easier, even when your phone is locked or you’re on the go.
