If you’re using an iPhone SE with iOS 18.7 and facing issues with Siri when searching, you’re not alone. Sometimes, Siri may respond with a message telling you to “change your settings on your device,” even when everything appears to be correct.

Here’s an easy step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and hopefully fix the problem:

  1. Check Siri Settings:
Go to Settings > Siri & Search. Ensure that “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'” and “Press Side Button for Siri” are turned on.

  2. Review Response Settings:
In Settings > Siri & Search, verify that “Speak Siri Responses” is enabled, and “Show Siri Captions” is also turned on. This ensures that Siri communicates properly with you.

  3. Verify Search Settings:
Navigate to Settings > Search. Make sure that your default search engine is set to Google, if that’s your preference. Also, check that Siri has permission to use Safari for searches by going to Settings > Apps > Safari > Siri, and confirm all relevant toggles are active.

  4. Check Safari Settings:
Within Settings > Apps > Safari, confirm that all necessary permissions for Siri are enabled, and check Search settings to ensure everything looks correct.

  5. Test Siri in Different Ways:
Try activating Siri in different ways — with the side button or by saying “Hey Siri” — and see if the issue persists.

  6. Restart Your Device:
Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor bugs. Turn your iPhone off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.

  7. Update Your Software:
Check if there’s an update available for iOS. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in updates. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

If none of these steps work, try resetting Siri and Search suggestions:

  • Disable Siri & Search, then turn it back on.
  • Reset all settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Remember, this will reset your preferences but not your data.

Finally, if you’re still having trouble, consider contacting Apple Support. They can help diagnose if there’s a deeper issue with your device or software.

Hopefully, one of these steps will resolve your Siri search problems!
