This week, I updated my devices to macOS 26.1 and installed Apple Intelligence on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Everything seemed fine at first, but I ran into a small problem on my Mac.
The issue is that the option to enable the ChatGPT Extension is grayed out and not clickable. I’ve attached a screenshot for reference to show what I’m seeing.
If you’re facing a similar problem where the ChatGPT Extension option is disabled on your Mac, here’s a simple way to try and fix it:
-
Check Compatibility: Make sure you have the latest version of the app or extension installed. Sometimes, updates are needed for new OS versions.
-
Update Your Mac: Confirm your macOS is up to date. Sometimes, features don’t work properly if there are pending updates.
-
Restart Your Device: Restart your Mac to refresh all system settings. Small glitches often fix themselves after a restart.
-
Verify Extension Settings: Go to System Preferences > Extensions or Safari Settings, and see if the ChatGPT extension is enabled there.
-
Reinstall the Extension: If it’s still not working, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the extension.
-
Check Permissions: Make sure your system allows the extension to run. Sometimes, privacy and security settings can block new extensions.
-
Contact Support: If none of these steps work, it’s a good idea to reach out to Apple Support or the extension’s support team for personalized help.
Hopefully, these steps help you turn on the ChatGPT Extension and enjoy the new features. If you need more help, feel free to ask!
