Roborock Saros 10 Review: The Next Step in Robot Vacuum Technology

MSRP $1,600.00

“The Saros 10 offers everything you could want in a robot vacuum and more, thanks to an impressive array of automated features.”

Advantages

  • Outstanding vacuuming performance
  • Removable mopping attachment
  • Self-cleaning charging station
  • Sleek and compact design
  • Highly customizable settings

Disadvantages

  • Premium price point
  • Detection of cables and cords could be improved

The Roborock Saros 10 represents a significant advancement in robotic vacuum technology, showcasing powerful suction, tangle-free brushes, and a self-cleaning dock. Its range of customization options makes it a top contender in the market. Although it carries a premium price tag, it’s an excellent investment for those wanting one of the best robot vacuum and mop combinations available.

Roborock introduced both the Saros 10 and Saros 10R around the same time, and while they share many features, our detailed comparison revealed that they are equally effective in most situations. However, the Saros 10 utilizes an older navigation technology that may resonate with long-time Roborock users.

Paired with 22,000 Pa of suction power, a high-end dock, a sleek new design, and a detachable mopping mechanism, the Saros 10 stands as one of the premier robot vacuum and mop units available. It proves to be an outstanding addition to any modern smart home.

A Versatile Robot Vacuum

Robotic vacuums in the $1,000-plus range are designed for high autonomy, and the $1,600 Saros 10 takes this to the next level, capable of operating for weeks with minimal intervention. After a quick setup and mapping process, users can schedule automated cleaning routines, like having it run daily while you’re at work, so you return to clean floors. The AI onboard effectively fine-tunes its cleaning approach according to your home’s specific needs, but it also allows extensive customization for those wanting to adjust settings such as suction power and mopping intensity.

In terms of cleaning capability, the Saros 10 outperforms most robot vacuums, with an impressive suction of 22,000 Pa—outpacing many competitors, including its counterpart, the Saros 10R. It features a tangle-free brush design that prevents hair from clogging its essential mechanisms, supported by a side brush for reaching difficult areas.

Mopping is equally impressive, featuring the VibraRise 4.0 Mopping System that excels at scrubbing tough stains. The mop automatically detaches when not needed, allowing the Saros 10 to clean carpets without dragging along the wet mop, and reattach when it’s time to clean hard floors.

This clever design is particularly appealing for homeowners with carpeting.

Upon completing a cleaning cycle, the robot returns to its docking station, where it automatically empties its dustbin into a larger holding container, cleans its mopping plate with heated water, and uses warm air to dry it. The dock itself also gets cleaned, ensuring that any debris that might have fallen off the robot is washed into the dirty water container.

For smaller homes and apartments, the Saros 10 usually only requires attention once a week due to its larger water tanks and a dust bag that lasts several weeks. In larger spaces, more frequent checks may be needed, but overall, this robot vacuum handles its tasks with minimal oversight.

Reliable Navigation

While the Saros 10R utilizes the advanced navigation system found in the forthcoming Saros Z70, the Saros 10 relies on an updated version of Roborock’s established Reactive AI system. This tried-and-true technology has consistently performed well over the years, as evidenced by its efficiency during our testing.

The Saros 10 successfully mapped my space and managed to navigate around obstacles, including my two lively dogs. However, like many robotic vacuums, it occasionally struggled to detect cords and cables—once rolling over a charging cable I deliberately left out for testing purposes.

Fortunately, this was one of the few difficulties encountered. The Saros 10 seldom got stuck and efficiently accessed a majority of the tight spaces in my home.

Differences with the Saros 10R

The Saros 10 shares many similarities with the Saros 10R, including high-end docking stations and automatic mopping pad removal. Both models employ AI to optimize cleaning settings. However, key differences exist between them.

As previously mentioned, the Saros 10 features an older navigation system compared to the cutting-edge StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 in the 10R. While the newer system hasn’t been proven over as long a period, it has shown to provide comparable, if not superior, performance during testing.

In terms of suction capacity, the Saros 10 offers more at 22,000 Pa compared to the 20,000 Pa of the 10R. Both vacuums are more than adequate for regular cleaning, but the extra 2,000 Pa of the Saros 10 may be advantageous for tougher jobs.

The mopping mechanics are also distinct, with the Saros 10 utilizing a large vibrating mop plate, whereas the Saros 10R employs dual spinning mopping pads. Personally, I prefer the two spinning pads for daily maintenance, but the vibrating plate on the Saros 10 is excellent for tackling stubborn stains or heavily soiled areas. Both devices perform exceptionally well, though some newer models like the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni have outperformed both in hard floor cleaning, albeit without the ability to detach their mop, making them less effective for carpet cleaning.

In reality, choosing between the two Roborock models is tough, as both offer advanced technology and thoughtful design that effectively manages all types of flooring.

Final Thoughts

The Roborock Saros 10 ranks among the best robotic vacuums available today. It features a dependable navigation system, substantial suction, and a sleek design that easily fits beneath furniture, making it ideal for a variety of homes. While its price point may be high, and the availability of the Saros 10R may complicate decision-making, the Saros 10 is likely to exceed the expectations of even the most selective consumers.
