IFA 2025 brought a whirlwind of new technology and gaming innovations. Smart home systems and artificial intelligence continue to steal the spotlight at trade shows—and that trend is especially clear when it comes to vacuum cleaners.
While Samsung revealed a high-end robot vacuum that also functions as a home surveillance system, Eufy—Anker’s smart home brand—took a different, more practical approach by showcasing its latest robot vacuum.
The new model, the Eufy S2 Pro Omni, currently can’t climb stairs on its own. But combine it with the MarsWalker, another robot released alongside, and suddenly you have a system that can navigate multiple floors of your house.
The MarsWalker acts like a stairlift, letting the Eufy S2 Pro Omni or other compatible Eufy devices drive into it. The MarsWalker then extends legs and climbs the stairs, lifting the vacuum to clean the upper level of your home.
Once finished, the vacuum can comfortably drive back into the MarsWalker, which will take it back downstairs. Both units can then dock in their own charging stations.
Despite rapid tech advancements, I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about how far AI and smart home devices have come. Nonetheless, watching the Eufy S2 Pro Omni paired with the MarsWalker in action at IFA was a real eye-opener—perhaps indicating that smart home vacuums are finally becoming sophisticated enough to justify the investment.
I’ve long been skeptical of robot vacuums. They seem great in theory, but living in a two-story house has made me hesitant—why invest in a device I’d still have to carry up and down the stairs? My recent close call was swayed mainly because my partner joked about needing two vacuums—one for upstairs, one for downstairs.
This new setup might just change my mind. The MarsWalker appears to make the case for a robot vacuum’s practicality, especially if it performs as seamlessly as it did during the demonstration.
The MarsWalker can quickly zip up stairs while carrying a vacuum, and then park itself for charging. It’s a smart, efficient solution for multi-story homes. The only unknown at this point is the price. If it turns out to be very costly, it might be more sensible to buy two budget-friendly robot vacuums instead.
Eufy has said that the MarsWalker will be compatible with other models from their lineup, not just the S2 Pro Omni. So, if you’re already part of the Eufy ecosystem, this could be a valuable addition to your smart home setup.
The product is expected to launch in Spring 2026, with detailed pricing to be announced closer to release.
Overall, the MarsWalker feels revolutionary and seems tailor-made for someone like me. It addresses the main drawback I’ve seen with robot vacuums—stairs—and does so with impressive efficiency based on the first-hand demo.
It can load a robot vacuum, carry it upstairs effortlessly, and then park itself for charging. However, without a clear price, it’s tough to say if it’s worth investing in. Perhaps getting two less expensive vacuums might make more sense, but we’ll have to see how this develops.
