“Where Winds Meet” is a new free-to-play open-world action role-playing game (ARPG) from NetEase Games. In the game, you create a character, play through the story, and then focus on endgame activities like grinding, dungeons, and raids. A key point to keep in mind is that once you create a character, you cannot delete it—currently, there’s no option to do so.

Because of this, it’s important to think carefully when setting up your character. Choose the exact look and skills you want from the start, and select the difficulty level that suits you best. If you want to start fresh later on, you’ll need to create a new account.

Character Creation Guide

You can customize your character in detail or use preset options. These cosmetic choices don’t have any effect on gameplay, so you don’t need to worry about them changing later.

You also get to decide the difficulty level of your character. When starting, you can only choose Expert difficulty. If you select Expert and then switch to a lower difficulty, you won’t be able to go back to the tougher setting.

Note: If you complete the game on Expert difficulty, you’ll earn a special cosmetic badge to show other players that you’ve conquered the hardest level.

For experienced players familiar with tough games like Sekiro, choosing Expert can provide a challenging experience. If you prefer a more relaxed gameplay, the Recommended or Story difficulty options are better choices.

Why Can’t You Delete Your Character?

Currently, players can only have one character in “Where Winds Meet.” Once a character is created, it’s permanently linked to your account. To make a new character, you’d need to set up a new Steam account or access the game on a different platform.

It’s worth mentioning that players on the Chinese version of the game have been able to have multiple characters per account. The developers are aware of this issue and have indicated they may be working on a fix through their official Discord channel.
