Hot springs help you boost your maximum health in Ghost of Yotei. They are one of the key locations you need to find because, as enemies get tougher later in the game, having higher health is very helpful. You can spot hot springs by looking for trees with bright red leaves that grow above them.
Each time you reach a vantage point while exploring, use your spyglass and hover over these red-leafed trees. This will add the hot spring’s icon to your map. Some hot springs are tricky to find, but a complete list with a map screenshot is available below, showing where each of the 16 hot springs in Ghost of Yotei is located.
Yotei Grasslands Hot Spring Locations:
There are four hot springs in this region, which are fairly easy to reach early on without leaving the grasslands. However, they are spread out along the edges of the area.
– Hidden Cliff Hot Spring: Located in the Golden Foothills, on your way from Yotei Grasslands to Ishikari Plain. It’s up in the cliffs west of the river valley, just before you move between zones.
– Wild Clearing Hot Spring: Found where you transition from Yotei Grasslands to Tokachi Range. It’s just south of the words “Maw of the Serpent,” northwest of Shadow Inn.
– Yotei’s Shadow Hot Spring: One of the first you’ll run into during the main story. It’s directly east of the Mountain Trail where you find Hanbei, near the pond, west of The Old Stables.
– Horizon View Hot Spring: Situated at the southern edge of the grasslands, west of the Saito Compound, near the coast, and east of the Dueling Tree where you start the duel with Takezo.
Tokachi Range Hot Spring Locations:
This area has two hot springs that can be visited early on, just like those in Yotei Grasslands.
– Grassy Fields Hot Spring: Just south of the ferry crossing into Nayoro Wilds. Located on a cliff behind some evergreen trees.
– Cave Path Hot Spring: On the western border of Nayoro Wilds, almost directly west of Husko Kotan, an Ainu village. It’s hidden behind a cave that also leads to an altar.
Oshima Coast Hot Spring Locations:
In the north of the Oshima Coast, there are two hot springs. These are usually discovered later, as they become accessible after following the Saito Brothers’ trail.
– Distant Castle Hot Spring: Located in the northern part of Oshima Coast, up on a hill among the pink cherry blossoms of Tokuyama Hills. It’s hidden near Miyama Village and Tamura Estate.
– Cliff View Hot Spring: To find this one, head east from Matsumae Castle, cross the Oyobe River, and search south of “Shojin Hills” on the map. It’s up on a hill.
Ishikari Plain Hot Spring Locations:
This region offers four hot springs and might be your first choice for increasing your max HP.
– Cloud View Hot Spring: Found east of Jigoku Fortress, on a cliff on the coast. Follow the Rumoi River inland from the fortress, and it’s located further north.
– Smoky Mountains Hot Spring: To reach this hot spring, go northwest from Sensei Takahashi’s Dojo, at the map’s edge in the mountains.
– Kappa’s Hot Spring: On the east side of the plain, north of Oni’s Breath Inn and the Blackened Homestead. It’s hidden in a forest with red trees, marked by oni masks hanging on lampposts.
– Bear Rock Hot Spring: Near Ishikari Market, east across the river. It’s close to a large rock formation called Bear Rock, near the reliquary puzzle and an altar.
Nayoro Wilds Hot Spring Location:
This is the smallest region with only one hot spring, near the western edge of Nayoro Wilds. It’s almost directly west of Husko Kotan, behind a cave close to the nearby altar.
– Cave Path Hot Spring: Located behind a cave on the western border of Nayoro Wilds, near Husko Kotan. It’s a peaceful spot with little combat, making it a nice place to relax.
Teshio Ridge Hot Spring Locations:
There are three hot springs here, scattered along the ridge, but be careful not to confuse the one that’s within another location.
– Red Crane Inn Hot Spring: This one is near the Red Crane Inn, which you visit multiple times during the main story, especially when hunting the Kitsune. It’s just to the left of the inn’s front entrance after paying a small fee.
– Valley View Hot Spring: Situated southwest of Master Enomoto’s dojo and right behind Hana’s Farm on Teshio Ridge’s northwest tip. Find it by searching along the ridge.
– Black Bowl Hot Spring: Located in the southwest part of Teshio Ridge, past the Snow Drift Springs Shrine and near the Snow Drift Springs Hideout. It’s west and slightly south of the Red Crane Inn.
Oshima Coast Hot Spring Locations (Late-Game):
These two are some of the last hot springs you’ll encounter. You need to follow the trail of the Saito Brothers in the second chapter to access them.
– Distant Castle Hot Spring: Found on a hill in the north of the coast, behind Tokuyama Hills, near Miyama Village and Tamura Estate.
– Cliff View Hot Spring: Head east from Matsumae Castle, across Oyobe River. Search south of Shojin Hills on your map to find this hot spring on a hilltop.
By visiting these hot springs, you’ll gain much-needed boosts to your health, making your journey through Ghost of Yotei more survivable and enjoyable.
