The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are about to make their debut in Magic: The Gathering with a new Universes Beyond set, which is expected to bring fresh excitement to the popular card game just before the release of Secrets of Strixhaven.
You will find all four of the well-known turtle heroes and their mentor, Splinter, playable across various game formats. Additionally, Wizards of the Coast has designed some new products that fit the Turtle theme, including a cooperative Player versus Environment (PvE) card game.
When is the TMNT MTG release date?
The TMNT set will be released on March 6, 2026. It will be the second Standard-legal set of the year, coming after Lorwyn Eclipsed and before Secrets of Strixhaven. Prerelease events start from February 27, 2026, so check with your local game store to find events near you.
Which TMNT products are available?
Along with the set, there will be a variety of themed products. These include familiar items like booster packs and special decks, as well as some new offerings unique to the Turtle universe. As a standard set branded under Universes Beyond, TMNT products will feature both traditional and innovative items.
The main product options include:
- Play Boosters: Priced at $6.99 each, or $124.99 for a box of 30, these packs include a random mix of cards from common to rare, with a small chance of pulling special guest cards.
- Collector Boosters: Costing around $37.99 per pack or $454.67 for a box, these are for collectors trying to find the rarest versions of cards. While they are more expensive and rarer, they could potentially increase in value over time, though there are no serialized cards currently advertised for this set.
- Turtle Team-Up: An exclusive product that is basically a cooperative PvE game. Up to four players can face a curated “enemy deck” similar to other adventure-themed card games. It includes four player decks, enemy deck, four booster packs, and all necessary counters, all in a single box.
- Commander Deck: Only one Commander deck is being released, featuring all four turtles, Splinter, and the Heroes in a Half Shell team-up card. These pre-built decks are a straightforward way to jump into Commander gameplay with friends—just open, shuffle, and play.
- Draft Night Box: Returning from Lorwyn Eclipsed, this set includes everything needed for a draft game with friends, including 12 booster packs, 90 lands, double-sided tokens, and a draft rule sheet. It also contains a collector booster pack as a prize.
- Pizza Bundle: A special product with mainly the same contents as a regular bundle but includes a collector booster and foil promo cards, packaged in a quirky pizza-themed box.
- Bundle: Contains nine booster packs, 30 lands (half foil), a themed storage box, and a themed D20 die—ideal for players who want some opening excitement without buying a full box.
- Prerelease Pack: Available a week before the official launch. It typically includes six booster packs, a themed D20, and a foil promo card. These packs are best purchased at local game stores, especially if you’re attending a prerelease event where you can draft a deck and play.
Some product prices, like the Pizza Bundle, Draft Night Box, and Collector Boosters, may be higher on resale sites like TCGPlayer but are typically available at or below MSRP through official stores like Amazon.
