Building a character in Solasta 2 requires understanding the different stats and attributes that make your character unique. Follow along to learn what you need for solid stats and character depth in any encounter.
What Do Stats Mean in Solasta 2
The stats in Solasta 2 are similar to those in Dungeons & Dragons 5e. If you’re familiar with the tabletop game, you already know what they do. If you’re new, some stats may seem confusing, so here is what each one represents:
All Stats and What They Do
| Stat | Description | Best Classes |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | Measures physical power, athletic ability, and how much raw force you can exert. | Fighter, Paladin |
| Dexterity | Reflects agility, reflexes, and balance. Important for dodging attacks and landing landings. | Rogue, Fighter |
| Constitution | Indicates health, stamina, and toughness. Affects how much damage you can take, your total HP, and resilience. | All Classes |
| Wisdom | Shows awareness of your surroundings, perception, and intuition. Useful for perception checks, religious knowledge, and resisting magic. | Cleric, Paladin |
| Intelligence | Measures mental sharpness, memory, and reasoning skills. | Wizard, Sorcerer |
| Charisma | Reflects social skills, confidence, charm, and influence. How effectively you interact with others. | All Classes |
Note: Charisma can be your lowest stat if you aren’t worried about talking your way through situations, but it’s helpful for convincing NPCs.
When you create your character, you get 27 points to allocate across these stats. Spending points evenly may seem safe, but it often isn’t optimal. Each class has ideal stats. For balanced characters, start with these guidelines:
- 15 – Your highest stat, usually based on your class’s main focus.
- 14 – Your second-highest; likely Constitution or Dexterity for certain classes.
- 13 – A solid, secondary stat that your class needs but isn’t primary, like Intelligence or Strength.
- 12 – A nice backup stat, paired with your main or second-highest.
- 10 – A less important stat, which you might want but can afford to be lower.
- 8 – A dump stat that you ignore, such as Strength for magic users or Wisdom for melee characters.
All Attributes in Solasta 2
In addition to core stats, there are other traits that shape your character. These include personality, ancestry, and background, which influence gameplay and role-playing.
Which Personality Should You Pick?
Your personality affects how your character communicates—the tone, responses, humor, and attitude. There are eight types to choose from, and while they don’t directly impact stats, they shape your role-playing experience.
| Background | Description |
|---|---|
| Caregiver | Friendly, optimistic, helpful, and cheerful. |
| Everyman | Easygoing, approachable, and friendly, but somewhat bland. |
| Hero | Passionate, eager, and enthusiastic—sometimes overly so. |
| Innocent | Cautious, discreet, soft-spoken, and avoids conflict. |
| Jester | Cynical, provocative, sneaky, and often makes fun, even at inappropriate times. |
| Outlaw | Rebellious, ambitious, somewhat greedy, and aggressive. |
| Ruler | Practical, terse, and sometimes seem cold or authoritative. |
| Sage | Curious, talkative, and inquisitive about everything. |
Tip: This choice is final; it cannot be changed later, so decide wisely before confirming your character.
Which Ancestry Should You Pick?
Your ancestry corresponds to your race—like Dwarf, Halfling, Elf, or Human. Some races, such as elves, have subraces that further influence stats and traits. While ancestry is important for gameplay, it’s less critical than your background. Many players pick based on aesthetic or personal preference, but experienced players aiming to optimize will choose carefully.
Which Background Should You Pick?
Your background reflects what your character did before attending the event that starts the story, and it grants specific benefits:
| Background | Benefits (Stats & Features) |
|---|---|
| Academic | Boosts Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Arcana, History, Crafting, and grants Magic Initiate (Wizard). |
