After arriving on Starsand Island, you meet Solara in your new garden. Once you’ve done some basic clearing and learned crafting essentials, you’re free to explore the island. There are five main jobs you can take on: Crafter, Farmer, Angler, Rancher, and Explorer. The most important one initially is the Crafter, because without crafting and upgrading your skills, it’ll be hard to progress on the island.
Each profession has its own mentor. You meet them during quests and when earning certification in that job. When you complete a certification, you revisit Solara for a reward. Your mentors are Zerine (Crafter), Graminova (Farmer), Francis (Angler), Pastelle (Rancher), and Zephyria (Explorer). You can find them on the map by pressing M or the menu button, selecting Mentors, then clicking on their icons and choosing Track to get there.
The first major step after finishing your first Crafting Certificate is to try the Explorer job. You can do this by visiting Zephyria at the Explorer Club in the west. She’ll give you a Slingshot blueprint, an essential tool for navigating the mysterious Moonlit Forest, filled with magical resources.
Farming and Angler are good to try next. These jobs are straightforward and help you earn money by growing crops or catching fish, which you can sell at the General Store. Many NPC vendors will buy your items, so you can usually sell what you buy or gather.
Ranching is less critical at first but worth exploring once you’ve built most of your crafting stations. It’s a great way to start farming animals like rabbits, who can even eat weeds on your farm, making Ranching particularly useful if you’re focusing on farming.
To improve your skills in each profession, you use the Workpedia app on your phone, where Starsand Points are earned by completing tasks, fulfilling requests, and leveling up. Tasks are listed in your StarNote app, which grants EXP and helps you level up. Every time you increase your level, there’s a chance to earn more Starsand Points, which you can spend in the Workpedia to make your work easier or faster.
You can earn between 50 and 1,500 Starsand Points each day by completing quests on the Starsand Resident quest board outside the Community Center. The requests have different star ratings, with better rewards for higher ratings. Be aware that most requests have deadlines, so complete them on time to avoid losing your reward.
Check your Workpedia daily to upgrade your skills in crafting, farming, and exploration. Improving these skills makes your actions more efficient and helps you progress faster through additional certifications and skill levels.
