Hunting for Hollow Knight Silksong Hokers and gathering their Spine Cores to give the Seamstress is a key step if you want to upgrade Hornet in a big way. The problem is, the Seamstress and her Flexible Spine Wish don’t clearly explain what Hokers are or where you can find them in the game. So, to help you finish this simple and important quest quickly and move on to the next part of the game, here’s a clear guide on where to find Hokers and collect their Spine Cores in Silksong.
Hokers are round, spiky enemies found in the southeastern cave area of the Far Fields. They look like a bowling ball with a green beard and have four to six pale spikes sticking out. Luckily, Hokers are pretty peaceful enemies in Silksong. They only shoot out all their spikes at once when Hornet attacks, and this is usually well-telegraphed, giving you plenty of time to dodge.
To get a Spine Core from a Hoker, you need to attack it to make it fire its spikes. Then, hit those spikes to turn them into a collectible Spine Core, which looks like a glowing white orb. Hokers can regenerate their spikes and die in just three hits, so you can collect up to three spikes per Hoker. This will help you gather the 25 Spine Cores you need quickly.
There are many Hokers along the ground in this cave area, and a few more on the upper path, so there are more than enough to find. Keep attacking Hokers and their spikes until you get enough, then go back to the Seamstress and give her the Spine Cores in exchange for your reward, just like with the Mossberries in Silksong.
Completing the Flexible Spine Wish is very important because it unlocks the Drifter’s Cloak for Hornet. This item is a must-have for reaching new areas. The Cloak works like a parachute—when you hold the jump button (X on PlayStation, A on Xbox, B on Switch) in midair, Hornet can glide down slowly and ride air currents to reach higher places. With this ability, you can move through the Far Fields to reach Greymoor and keep exploring toward the Citadel in Pharloom. When combined with your Swift Step ability and pogo jumps, it allows for very far travel, helping you access areas that were previously out of reach.
Later in the game, you’ll unlock a double jump move for even more mobility, making navigation even easier.
