Monstrous creatures like Rathalos and Rey Dau are the stars of the Monster Hunter series. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of taking on the mighty ruler of the skies with a gigantic horn. However, not every creature in this world is that colossal. Monster Hunter Wilds features many smaller monsters that go about their everyday lives.
Among these smaller beasts, you’ll encounter unsettlingly large insects. One such creature is the Comaqchi, found in the frigid landscape of the Iceshard Cliffs. If you want to collect enough Comaqchi Carapaces, you’ll be hunting a good number of them.
How to Obtain Comaqchi Carapace
You can acquire Comaqchi Carapaces by carving them from the defeated Comaqchis. It’s straightforward; however, it’s also available as a target reward from the Dream Eaters Optional Quest, albeit with a lower drop rate. Your best bet is to head straight to the Iceshard Cliffs to hunt them down since there’s a guaranteed drop when you carve a fallen Comaqchi.
Comaqchi Carapace is only obtainable from High Rank Comaqchi, so ensure you complete the Low Rank storyline first.
These small monsters are helpfully indicated on the map with small blue icons, which display their emblem when you zoom in. Utilize this feature to easily locate groups of them across the terrain, allowing you to collect a Comaqchi Carapace from each one you defeat. If you’re having trouble with them bursting, equip the Entomologist skill to ensure they stay intact.
Additionally, you can trade Chaliceweed to Rove for Comaqchi Carapaces, but it’s wise to save that trade for something more valuable.
What You Can Make with Comaqchi Carapace
Here’s a list of all the equipment you can create using Comaqchi Carapaces, along with the amount required for each:
- Comaqchi Accessory α and β – Five each, totaling 20 for all variations.
- Dahaad Shardgreaves α and β – Two each, making eight for all versions.
- Nerscylla Coil α and β – Two each, also amounting to eight for all variations.
- Sleep Charm III – Three.
- Sonic Horn IV – Four.
In total, you’ll need 42 Comaqchi Carapaces. While that may sound like a lot, you can easily gather this amount in just a few trips to the Iceshard Cliffs since they drop consistently. Afterward, you won’t have to face those oversized insects again.
