Throughout your gameplay in Ghost of Yotei, you’ll receive various requests from villagers. One of the more challenging quests is called “Sorrow in Snow.” In this task, a worried grandfather asks you to find his grandson, who might be lost in the snow. The problem is, he provides only a vague location, which is regularly blocked by rocky ridges and small mountains.
Searching in this unclear area isn’t as straightforward as in some of the more open and flat regions of the map. We’re here to help you not just reach the destination, but also figure out how to navigate the cold, rocky slopes to get there.
### How to Reach the Grandson in Sorrow in Snow
The easiest way to complete Sorrow in Snow is if you’ve already unlocked the Pillar of the Fallen, located just south of the Deserted Village and north of the Old Home. If you have it, fast travel to this point, then turn 180 degrees. From there, you’ll see the edge of a ridge on your left side.
Go toward the ridge, and you’ll spot a tree stump sticking out on the opposite side. Jump to grab this stump with R2. A few steps forward, you’ll find a smoldering fire. Interact with the fire to trigger a cutscene, then slide down the nearby rocky slope to reach the grandson, who is under attack. During the fight, focus on enemies targeting him to keep him alive.
Once the enemies are defeated, talk to the grandson. This will finish the quest, and you’ll need to return to the grandfather to officially complete it.
If you haven’t unlocked the Pillar of the Fallen, you’ll need to find a way to climb up this ridge. Head to about 7 o’clock on the main quest marker in the golden circle that indicates the quest area. There’s a rocky cliff with some white grips on the left side that you can use to climb up.
Climb the rocks and follow the ridge around. Soon, you will see the tree stump mentioned earlier. Jump on it as described, and if you want, you can go a few more steps past the stump to collect a cosmetic item from the Pillar of the Fallen.
