Hell Is Us takes place in the remote country of Hadea, a nation that forbids outsiders from entering without permission, and hardly allows its own citizens to leave. The country is currently torn apart by a civil war between two religious groups, the Palomists and Sabinians. Towns are often occupied, and violence happens frequently.
Because of this, relationships like kinship between someone from the Palomist side and a Sabinian are extremely dangerous and can be deadly. Despite this, such bonds are sometimes still worth protecting, especially deep beneath the city of Jova. Seeing an older woman caring for a baby across religious lines can inspire you to help, even if armies tell you otherwise.
Starting a quest called “The Land Of Milk And Honey Good Deed,” you find Jova occupied by Sabinian soldiers at the beginning, with all Palomists either killed, fled, or hiding. But deep inside Jova, there’s a well with a ladder leading far below the city, and you hear a crying baby echoing through the tunnels.
As you navigate the tunnels, be sure to unlock any gates you find to make future access easier. The baby’s cries will grow louder as you approach, guiding you closer. When you reach deep enough, climb a ladder and find a fork in the path—one ladder goes up, the other down. Take the downward ladder and weave through the corridors until you find an old woman caring for a small baby tucked away in the back of a room.
Talk to her, and she will reveal that she is a Palomist, but the baby was born to Sabinian parents. She promised to care for him after they were taken for execution but couldn’t keep the secret when Jova was taken hold of by Sabinian forces. She has run out of food for the baby, named Uli, and asks for your help to find more. Completing this task begins the “Land Of Milk And Honey Good Deed.”
### Where To Find Fresh Milk
Because Jova is now controlled by Sabinian troops and few are willing to help a Palomist woman hiding a Sabinian baby, you’ll need to leave Jova and the surrounding marshes to find milk. You will have to find another Palomist willing to help.
Return to the first area you visited in the game, Caddell Farm, and speak with Ernest. He owns a cow and has a large jug of milk on his table. Show him the empty bottles, and he will refill them, but he asks you not to give this milk to any Sabinian baby. You can keep that detail to yourself.
With milk in hand, head back to Jova’s tunnels and find the old woman. Give her the milk, and she will be overjoyed and thankful. She plans to leave Jova when she can, confident that Uli will be well-fed and quiet on their journey. At this stage, the “Land Of Milk And Honey Good Deed” is complete.
If you’ve already met Gildas in the Vyssa Plains, you can visit him afterward for a reward once you finish this deed.
