After making some progress in Grounded 2, you’ll reach your first Ranger Outpost, where you can find various Omni-Tools and their upgrades. These upgrades are central to game progression because they allow you to destroy tougher, high-level items, unlocking more resources for your use.
One of the key upgrades you’ll likely get stuck on is the Omni-Shovel. To get it, you’ll need to farm Grass Seeds. While gathering Grass Seeds isn’t difficult, finding them for the first time can be tricky.
Since Grounded 2 is in Early Access, all content here might change later.
How to Get Grass Seeds
When you start the game and complete the tutorial, you’ll be in a vast open world with no restrictions besides the edges of the map. The game features different biomes, but most of them have a common feature: grass scattered all over the park.
Because grass is everywhere, finding its seeds is easier if you know where to look. To locate Grass Seeds, look high up and find grass with a white flower on top. When you’re close to such grass, you’ll see a label called “Grass Flower” instead of regular grass.

Once you spot the Grass Flower, your next step is to gather a tool called the Omni-Axe, which you can get from the Ranger Outpost south of Snackbar Front. Use the Omni-Axe to cut down the Grass Flower plants. When you break a plant, there’s a chance it will drop Grass Seeds onto the ground nearby. You can see the seeds clearly among the Grass Planks—they’re small and fit into your inventory, unlike the planks, which are bulkier.
You don’t need to carry many seeds with you at once. Just harvest a few Grass Flower plants until you collect enough Grass Seeds. These seeds can then be used to craft various items, including the Omni-Shovel, which is essential for progressing further in the game.
