Where To Find Evolution Stones in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Completing Evolution Quests

While trying to complete your Pokedex in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and catch every available Pokémon, you may encounter some obstacles, like Pokémon that evolve only when they use certain items. Among these items, Evolution Stones are essential for evolving various Pokémon.

Evolution stones are used to evolve multiple Pokémon species—most stones can be used for more than one Pokémon. If you want to speed up your progress and get more Pokémon to evolve faster, here’s what you need to know.

Where To Get Evolution Stones

Buy from a Store
The Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, located on the south side of Lumiose City, sells Evolution Stones.

Note: The store will only sell four types of Evolution Stones (plus fossils and some Mega Stones) until you finish the main story. Afterward, it will sell all kinds of Evolution Stones.

Other stones like Ice, Shiny, Dusk, Dawn, Sun, and Moon Stones are available after the game ends.

Note: Some Pokémon from other series might also use these stones, but they may not be available in Legends: Z-A yet. This could change with future updates or downloadable content.

Find Evolution Stones as Items

You don’t need to wait until the story ends to find some stones. Many can be discovered hiding around Lumiose City.

Interact with any Red Poke Ball items you find in the city; there’s a chance one contains an Evolution Stone.
Once you pick up a Poke Ball item, it won’t appear again there, unlike sparkling items you find.

Tip: Consider asking friends if they have spare Evolution Stones. They can give one to a Pokémon to hold, then trade that Pokémon to you to transfer the stone.
